The opening of the centre “Hermitage – Ural” in Yekaterinburg is scheduled for 2017. A branch of one of the major museums of Russia will be located in the former printing house “Granit” on Vainera Street.
The research and project documentation of the restoration of the building is agreed with the Ministry of Public Property Management, according to “Uralinformbyuro”. The agreement with the State Hermitage Museum on the establishment of exposition on the basis of the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts was signed by the Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast Yevgeny Kuivashev in the autumn of 2014. The Hermitage already occupied the premises of “Granit”: during the Great Patriotic War it was the place for storage of collections evacuated from Leningrad where the museum staff also worked.
