Free film festival Stalker is taking place in the historical and cultural complex Omsk Fortress in the Omsk Region.
The festival took place for the first time in Moscow in 1995.
Visitors will watch films about military conflicts, doctors, poets and homeless children. The people's artist of Russia and the film director Vsevolod Shilovsky and the head of Film Directors' Guild Igor Stepanov took part in the opening ceremony.
All comers are welcome to the festival free of charge. The festival program includes about twenty films, which are prize-winners of the Russian Film Festival. According to Sergey Familtsev, the chief of the Film Section of the Culture Department, such festivals promote raising modern legal awareness of the society, since the films are not just professional, but spiritual as well.
The Stalker Film Festival will be held in Omsk Fortress from July 21 to July 25.
