International conference commemorating the German artist Lovis Corinth took place in Gvardeysk town of the Kaliningrad Region, Russia.
Representatives of the Culture Ministry of the Kaliningrad Region, museum and tourist community, public and local history organizations, as well as guests from Russia and Europe took part in the conference.
The draft concept of creating Lovis Corinth museum complex was discussed at the conference. Besides, the conference program included reports on development of the German art of the late 19th - early 20th century, the cultural context of Konigsberg, and paintings by Lovis Corinth in art collections of Konigsberg. Russian and foreign guests shared their experience of creating monographic museums with their Kaliningrad colleagues.
The main outcome of the conference is approval of the concept of Lovis Corinth museum complex in the artist's historical homeland, the eastern Prussian town of Tapiau (nowadays Gvardeysk, Russia). The future museum house of Lovis Corinth will become a branch of the Kaliningrad Art Gallery.
