The Kinodata.pro has conducted research to assess the efficiency of the state support of Russian film industry.
According to the portal, only 1 percent of the Russian movies that had received budgetary funding made some distribution profit.
1 389 Russian films, including those in coproduction with other countries were released from 1992 to July 19, 2015. 1024 of them were partially or completely financed by the state. Out of them only 10 films made profit from the film distribution in movie theaters. Altogether experts found 81 profitable Russian films for 24 years.
The edition estimates the total amount of the budgetary funding received by the film industry over this period at 2,5 billion dollars. The most profitable films among those supported by the Ministry of Culture and Cinema Foundation are Gorko! (box office of 25,53 million dollars with the budget of 1,3 million), Kitchen in Paris (box office of 14,04 million dollars with the budget of 2,3 million), and Legend No. 17 (box office of 29,3 million dollars with the budget of 13,7 million).
The Ministry of Culture and Cinema Foundation are engaged in state support of the Russian film industry. In 2015 the volume of the budgetary funds allocated for the branch made 6 billion rubles. 3 billion out of them are distributed by the Ministry of Culture, and the remaining amount by the Cinema Foundation.
