The documentary Francophonie by the renonwed Russian film director Alexander Sokurov had been named an official selection of the 72nd Venice Film Festival.
"The film was made by an international team and is very much European". According to the director, his documentary considers the subject of World War II from the humanistic point of view".
Alexander Sokurov mentioned that he would visit the festival personally only if required. "The problem is that now my graduates are preparing for shootings of their first full-length picture, which are planned for September and we are going to Abkhazia for the occasion".
This year the Venice Film Festival will be held from September 2 to September 12, 2015. The Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón will chair the panel of judges. One of his recent films, The Gravitation starring Sandra Bulok and
George Clooney won two Oscars.
