The Russian writer, essayist, literary critic and historian of literature Samuil Lurie was born in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) in 1942. He graduated from the Leningrad State University.
Works by Samuil Lurie were published in editions of Moscow, Leningrad, Tallinn, Paris, and Dortmund.
He was a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR, the Union of Writers of the USSR, and the Academy of the Russian Modern Literature. Samuil Lurie was a holder of several prestigious awards in the field of literature.
