The road workers of Pskov Oblast decided to resume the construction of the memorial “Dulag 100” located in the outskirts of the city of Porkhov towards the town of Dno in memory of the Soviet prisoners of war tragically killed during the Great Patriotic War.
As the press service of the regional administration reported to REGNUM IA, the works will start on August 20. According to the Transport Committee of Pskov Oblast, it is planned to use the forces of road workers in order give the memorial complex the look conceived by the author – the sculptor Mykola Radchenko-Shalo who wanted to erect a monument to the victims of fascism even in 1983. Let us recall that the German concentration camp for prisoners of war and civilians “Dulag 100” was established in August 1941 and lasted until February 1944. The prisoners unloaded wagons, worked in the fields, in roads repair. About 85 thousand of Soviet citizens were killed in the camp - about 100 people per day.
