The People's Artist of Russia and the USSR Lev Durov died in reanimation of the First City Hospital in Moscow after a long illness.
Lev Durov spent the last two weeks of his life in hospital, where he was diagnosed with acute heart failure.The actor underwent urgent surgery and then due to his worsening condition state he was put under medically induced coma. Lev Durov died, aged 83, on the night of August 20.
Lev Durov was born on December 23, 1931 in Moscow. In 1954 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School Studio and was invited to the Central Children's Theater, where he worked for 10 years. The same year Lev Durov debuted in filming and played more than 200 roles since then. He played on stage of the Lenkom Theatre from 1963 to 1967 and at the Moscow Drama Theater in Malaya Bronnaya, where he was also a stage director from 1967. In 1990 Lev Durov was given the title of the People's Artist of the USSR.
