The British newspaper The Daily Express called St. Petersburg the most beautiful and most elegant city of Russia.
The edition presents the viewpoint of its reporter Nick Bulos, whocontraposes the city on Neva to Moscow, which is "Russian to the core" with its "formidable Stalinist architecture" and "high walls of the Kremlin".
From the European point of view, St. Petersburg looks very similar to Vienna or Budapest and is an ideal introduction into "intriguing and somewhat redoubtable" Russia, the article points out.
The British journalist visited St.Petersburg this summer and was delighted with the fascinating sights, art and architecture of St. Petersburg. So, Nick Bulos advises his fellow countrymen to go to St. Petersburg for boating its canals, wandering in its museums, retiring in its churches and drinka shot of vodka.
"The Hermitage with its, probably, the world's largest collection of arts was my first stop" — he writes. Besides, according to the newspaper, it is a must to visit the Russian Museum and Fabergé Museum. The pearl in the city's crown is the Church of the Spilled Blood with its quaint domes and intricate mosaics, the reporter adds.
