Jubilee  Festival 'Stars on Baikal' Held in Irkutsk

The annual international music festival Stars on Baikal is taking place in Irkutsk for the 10th time this year.

      It was traditionally started with two concerts: a charity concert for children and veterans and an opening concert. It was a triple concert of Mozart's music performed by the festival art director, the People's Artist of Russia Denis Matsuyev, the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra under the leadership of Valery Gergiev and the pianist Alexander Malofeyev, the winner of the Tchaikovsky International Youth Contest.

      "Legendary stars and the aspiring generation, winners of the last Tchaikovsky Contest, the long-awaited visit to Bratsk, which makes me very happy, Yuri Bashmet with the Soloists of Moscow, Gerard Depardieu and Fanny Ardant starring in the play Music, and a great number of many other things", – the art director Denis Matsuyev reported at the press conferences. The festival runs in Irkutsk till September 13.
