The award ceremony of the 9th International Competition of Organists took place in the Kaliningrad Cathedral on September 8.
21 organists from 11 countries took part in final trial hearings in Kaliningrad. The first selection rounds of the competition took place in Kansas, Hamburg and Moscow, and the second and the third rounds were held in Kaliningrad.
The finals ran on one of the best organs of Russia and Europe, in the Kaliningrad Cathedral.
Musicians from Japan, Germany, Italy, Russia and South Korea became prize and diploma winners.
The 1st Prize goes to Ikuyo Mikami (Japan), the 2nd Prize to Lukas Euler (Germany) and the 3rd Prize to Antonio di Dedda (Italy) and Maria Lebedeva (Russia).
The only international competition of organists in Russia has been held since 1999.
Besides monetary awards, the prize winners and finalists of the competition will get an opportunity to perform in the best organ concert halls of the world.
