According to the film producer, it is not against the Oscar rules and will increase chances for the film to receive the nomination.
The Battle for Sevastopol is a military biopic directed by Sergey Mokritsky and coproduced by Russia and Ukraine in 2015.
"I believe that if the film is nominated from Russia and Ukraine, it will have more chances to win. Doing so is compatible with the rules and regulations of the Oscar committee because it is a real coproduction", Natalya Mokritskaya, the Russian producer of Battle for Sevastopol stated.
The Russian-Ukrainian film Battle for Sevastopol tells about life of Lyudmila Pavlichenko, the deadliest female sniper of World War II, over the period from 1937 to 1957.
