Two Participants of Peace March Arrested in St. Petersburg

Peace March was organized in St. Petersburg today in furtherance of rapprochement between Russia and Ukraine.

Since the action was not preliminary coordinated with the city authorities, the police interfered with the Peace March. As a result two persons, one of them flewing the Ukrainian flag, were taken into custody.

The organizers of procession declared that this action is nothing but a usual walk, and everyone is free to join the group of citizens or leave it any time.

Eyewitnesses point out that the Peace Walk was very friendly and free from any separatist slogans.

However, once the police approached the procession and stared arresting people, the crowd expressed indignation at the gross injustice.

According to the Fontanka newspaper, about 400 people took part in the Peace March.
