The exhibition Divine Maya is presently held in the Theatre and Music Art Museum in the Sheremetev Palace, St. Petersburg.
The exhibition tackles upon the interaction of ballet, theatre and fashion.
Maya Plisetskaya took an active part in preparing the exposition, which was supposed to become a gift for her 90th jubilee, but became a tribute to the memory of the great Russian ballerina, who passed away in May 2015.
According to the museum director Natalya Metelitsa, the exhibition aims to not just introduce general public to museum materials, Maya Plisetskaya's stage costumes and photos, but also demonstrate her influence on the fashion-land.
Fashion played a significant role in the life of Maya Plisetskaya. Her stage costumes, dinner gowns and daily dresses were created by Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Pierre Cardin (the latter was her friend for 35 years). Some of these dresses can be seen at the exhibition that runs tills November 8.
