The Kinoaliance association that controls 40 per cent of movie theaters in this country, agreed with Culture Ministry about the quota on Russian films.

      The Kinoaliance is ready to give 20 per cent of screen time to domestic films.  At the same time the Culture Ministry insists that the share of Russian cinema make 25 per cent in general in 2016 and not less than 15 per cent a month. The ministry is negotiating with other movie theater networks.

      The idea to introduce the quota was expressed by the Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky.

      The 20 per cent share is quite realizable. In the first nine months of the year all Russian movie theaters gave about 19 per cent of the session time to national films.
