Moscow has been awarded the international prize “Golden Apple” in the field of tourism, as TASS reports.
The prestigious award was handed to the Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin by the President of the International Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers (FIJET) Tijani Haddad.
The “Golden Apple” prize was awarded to Moscow for the work on the preservation of cultural and historical heritage and the dynamic development of tourist destination. The prize was established by FIJET in 1970 and has since been annually awarded to the organization, country, city, place of interest or person for their outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of tourism. Sobyanin recalled that the city had consistently been engaged in the development of public spaces, improvement of parks, streets, squares, high-quality lighting of the city. “The “Circle of Light” Festival is the culmination of the work we have been conducting in the city to ensure that it really is in the circle of light” - the Mayor said.
