The Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov has won the Award for Contribution into World Cinema at the Indian International Film Festival now held in GOA.
The award ceremony will take place on November 24. The same day will see shows of Nikita Mikhalkov's cult films, such as The Barber of Siberia, Sunstroke and Burnt by the Sun.
The renowned Russian film director is expected to be personally present at the award ceremony.
It should be noted that earlier such an award was given to the film directors Krzysztof Zanussi from Poland, Jiri Menzel from Czechia and Wong Kar-wai from Hong Kong.
