The project of the “Zaryadye” Park will include the most ancient street of the capital - Velikaya - found during the excavations, as Sergei Sobyanin said during the inspection of the construction site.

“I think it is necessary to adjust the project of the “Zaryadye” Park. I commission to integrate the ancient underground street into it, providing an access to it to the visitors of the park” - the Mayor said. The excavation also revealed a birch-bark scroll, a treasure with coins and numerous household items. Only the remnants of the pavements and houses which have gone underground over time are left from Velikaya Street which once ran along the Moskva River to the Church of the Conception of St. Anna.

Velikaya Street disappeared in the course of restructuring of Zaryadye in the 30s-60s of XX century - it was planned to construct a building of People’s Commissariat of Heavy Industry or a “Stalinist” high-rise building, but finally they built a hotel.
