Masterpieces of antique art and culture will be presented in the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg.
Dozens of exhibitions and other cultural events associated with Greece will run in St. Petersburg in 2016, the cross year of Russia and Greece.
Thus, the exhibition Byzantium over Centuries" will be held in the Hermitage from June 24 to October 2. The exposition will consist of more than a hundred works embracing the period from antiquity till the 17th century.
Another exhibition will take place in an art gallery in St. Petersburg will present works by Greek artists up to the modern period.
Exhibitions from collections of the Hermitage Museum and the Russian Museum will take place in Athens. Icons, jewelry, gifts of the Russian tsars, paintings by western masters, such as Velasquez, Rubens, Monet and others will be brought from St. Petersburg to the Byzantine Museum.
