Egypt has started the practical stage of founding the country's first ever nuclear power plant.
It will be built in the city of Ad-Dabaa with the assistance of the Rosatom corporation from Russia.
As TASS reports with reference to the Al-Akbar newspaper, the object construction was be launched on January 4, 2016. Presently 39 engineers and geologists are working at the site.
Ad-Dabaa is located near the Mediterranean coast, at the 150 kilometer distance away from legendary Alexandria. In the past the city was expected to become a popular resort. However 10 years ago the country set a course for development of nuclear power. After long-term studies Ad-Dabaa was recognized the place most suitable for the NPP construction.
Egypt will get the credit of 25 billion dollars from Russia for the project. It will make 86 percent of the total cost of works. Egypt will dig up the remained resources independently. The country is going to return the loan after 2029, with 3 per cent per annum.
The nuclear power plant is planned to have been constructed by 2018. It is going to be the most large-scale project of Russia and Egypt since the foundation of the Aswan Dam.
