Launch of the carrier rocket Proton-M with a military satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome has been postponed from December 10 to December 13.
"The decision to postpone it was taken in Moscow. There was no technical need to do it. The rocket was already brought to the launch site. Postponing was required for additional check-ups of the spacecraft's separation subsystems in connection with the loss of another military satellite", - a reliable source at the Airspace Forces of Russia reported to TASS.
It is noted that the lost satellite had no duplicating system of unhooking from the upper stage Volga. "Technical writers missed to provide the emergency algorithm against the possibility that the ejection explosive charge fails to release. Naturally, to increase the reliability it was necessary to introduce a compulsory rupture of mechanical locking of the satellite to the upper stage, despite the presence of the duplicating command channels to pyro cartridges" - the source pointed out.
