The next stage of "Let's Preserve the Nature of the Avachinskii Pass!" joint environmental project by the Association of Krai's Protected Areas and the "Kamchatka Volcanoes" Natural Park was completed in Kamchatka.
Within this project, the barrier blocked the free passage on Avachinskiy Pass that tourists love to visit. Within the Avachinskiy Pass cordon at the entrance to alpine vegetation, the specialists from the department of park protection and recreation department installed a barrier. "Uncontrolled entrance up to the top of the pass, to the Camel extrusion creates danger of damaging and destruction of the soil cover, which in this area is thin and extremely vulnerable. In addition, these areas are home to black-capped marmot. A large number of vehicles creates huge disturbance and leads to lower population," the park representatives said.
According to the monitoring data, tourists nearly expelled from the Camel Extrusion a colony of black-capped marmots, living there for the past decades. Significant role in this was played by elementary reluctance of the "park guests" to observe the rules of the visiting the territory.
