The exhibition Doll in a National Costume has been opened in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
The large-scale exhibition is timed to the 100th anniversary of the State Russian House of Folk Art.
"The subject matter of dolls is rather popular nowadays, but the doll wearing a national costume suit is a topic promoted for the first time. Our doll artists resort to the theme of their family, their people, and their country" — the exhibition curator Yulia Ivanova noted.
Visitors of the exhibition will see more than one thousand dolls from 50 subjects of the Russian Federation. The exhibits represent not only Russian folk clothes of various regions, but nationalities of Dagestan, Bashkortostan, Karelia, the Mari Republic, Mordovia, Udmurtia, Chuvashia and Yakutia as well.
