Ukraine has increased the tariff to transport Russian gas around the country to $4.5 for 100 km. This has been stated by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Vladimir Demchishin, reports UNN.

“Before that there was only a transit tariff, now there will be a tariff for transporting via gas transmission. It will be done according to the calculations of the regulator. This will make it around $4.5 per 100km. This is around 50% higher than it used to be.” The minister also claimed that the last time Ukraine bought gas from Europe, it cost them $190 for 1000 cubic meters. “We buy gas in Europe. The last transactions cost $190 which is much cheaper than Gazprom’s offer.” – said Demchishin.

10th of January the Prime-Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk claimed that Kiev will not buy gas from Russia for $2012.23 for 1000 cubic meters, since Europe offer better prices.
