The well-known Serbian film director Emir Kusturica wants to make "a Russian film in Russian".
He said so in interview to the Russian-Serbian media center Russian Express at the 9th International Kustendorf film festival, which is taking place in the Serbian etnosettlement Drvengrad these days. "I had an idea to make a film about Dostoyevsky, and I have a million of ideas - that is my biggest problem. I definitely must shoot a Russian film in the Russian language; I love Russia because I feel that i have the same blood in my veins" - the film director stated.
Emir Kusturica believes that "the Russian cinema should not get under the influence of Hollywood; Russian rockets are not the same as American ones, and so movies cannot be identical".
In his opinion, "Russia has too many traditions of literary heritage to believe that it has run out of its own subjects and contents and has to imitate the western samples. There are very good authors in Russia: they are genuine and original. There is no country in the world that has more poets, writers, and artists, and there is no need for Russia to make films according to the Hollywood recipes", - he points out.
