Twice Less Russian Tourists Visited Turkey

More than 25 thousand Russians visited Turkey in December of last year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

According to the Ministry, in December last year the number of Russian citizens who came to Turkey was almost twice less than in the same month one year earlier. In 2014 the number amounted to 48 thousand, in 2013 – to more than 61 thousand. Meanwhile, there was already no organized tourist flow to Turkey at that time.

Starting from late November Russia prohibited the tour operators to sell tours to the country. This was a counter measure for the Russian bomber shot down by Turkish Air Forces. As it was reported to the “Interfax-Tourism” portal by the press secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Irina Tyurina, tourist flow to Turkey exists, in spite of current prohibitions.
