Aerosol Situation in Moscow Slowly Alleviated

Russian ecologists and chemists from the Moscow State University state that the ecological situation with atmospheric aerosols in Moscow has been alleviated due to reduction of anthropogenous greenhouse gas emissions and improvement of petrol quality in recent years.

This was reported by ecologists from the Moscow State University in an article published in the Atmospheric Measurement Techniques.

"Study of aerosols is growing in importance nowadays for the reason that they impact the global climate change. The unique data collected by the Meteorological Observatory of the MSU describes the changes in "transparency" of aerosols in recent years and made it possible for us to trace the tendency to their decrease in concentration in the 21st century. It is probably related to reduction of anthropogenous emissions of aerosol "germs", which happened all over Europe and in the western part of the Russian Federation" — Natalya Chubarova, one of the article authors from the Lomonosov Moscow State University pointed out.
