Ulyanovsk state institutions’ employees were disapproved of using Google, Skype, WhatsApp and other foreign services at work. This is reported by “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”. The prohibition is valid in the authorities, educational, medical and other state budget institutions.
The usage of Russian services is not forbidden. “The prohibition involves only computers at work: the employees are allowed to use Google or Skype on their own gadgets for personal use. I have both WhatsApp and Viber on my phone and tablet myself”, commented the first vice-chairman of Ulyanovsk region administration Svetlana Openysheva.
According to her, the following procedures were caused by security policies. “Every now and then our employees would send documents for our own use via foreign services. There’s other information that also needs to be kept secret”, Openysheva explained. A regional Information security committee will be looking after the compliance of the prohibition.
