So far modern technologies enable people to cover the distance from the Earth to the Mars in 1,5 years.

      With the nuclear power propulsion system, which is being developed by the Rosatom and the Roscosmos, it will be possible to cover the distance between Earth and the Mars in just 1,5 months.

      RIA Novosti reported about it with reference to the statement of the Rosatom CEO Sergey Kiriyenko  in the Federation Council on Wednesday.

      Mr. Kiriyenko reminded that modern technologies make it possible to cover the distance from the Earth to the Mars in as long as 1,5 years so far. Besides, potential space colonialists will have no chance to return to their native planet and maneuver in the outer space.

      "The nuclear engine will enable us to reach the Mars in 1,5 months and come back, since it provides the  possibility of maneuvering", - he pointed out.
