The metro station which is being built near Khodynka Field in Moscow will be called “CSKA”. This was reported to “TASS” by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development Issues Leonid Pechatnikov who heads an interagency committee on renaming.
“We have considered the proposal on the renaming of the new metro station under construction near Khodynka Field, and the majority of votes approved the proposal to name the station “CSKA”. Now we are preparing the relevant draft resolution of the Government of Moscow on the name of the station which had the working name “Khodynka Field” – “CSKA” – Pechatnikov said. The station under construction was previously often called “Khodynka Field”, however, as Pechatnikov stressed, it “had no officially recorded name”, so the question now is “not to rename, but to name”.
According to him, the committee took into account the fact that the “name “Khodynka Field” was associated with unpleasant memories of the events of 1896 when people were killed as a result of a stampede”. The official document on the name of the station may appear within three weeks.
