      Russia expects that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will explain the fact that meldonium was added to the list of banned drugs from January 1, 2016. This was told in an interview with the REN TV channel by the Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. “I do not want to play dirty tricks, I just want to stress it very seriously: the professional opinions on the justification of this step of WADA which sound today do not get any response from the management of this very WADA” - Lavrov said.

      According to him, “the professional issues must be followed by a professional explanation”. “Maybe WADA management had good reasons [to include meldonium into the list of banned drugs] that are known neither to us, nor the scientific community, nor the expert community. But then these reasons need to be explained” - Lavrov said.
