March 17 will see opening of the 6th Francophone Film Festival at the St. Petersburg movie theater Rodina.
The festival will last for one week and introduce film lovers to nine modern movies made by member countries of the International Francophonie Organization. The films will be demonstrated in the original language version with subtitles.
The festival will be opened with the premiere of the documentary Francophonie directed by Alexander Sokurov.
Sokurov's Francophonie is a prize-winner of the 72nd Venice Film Festival of the last year and a participant of a number of film festivals in Europe and Russia. The film tells about the rescue of the Louvre museum treasures during World War II and fascist occupation of Paris.
The festival program inlcudes works by film directors from France, Canada, Belgium, Cyprus, Mauritania and other countries.
