Russia along with lots of other counties around the world is celebrating the International Theatre Day.

      Actors, stage directors and theatre lovers take part in this already traditional observance that was established at the 9th Congress of the International Theater Institute back in 1961. Since then it has been annually celebrated on March 27 under the motto Theatre as Means of Mutual Understanding and Consolidation of Peace among Peoples.

      Activities of the International Theater Institute aim at "building peace and friendship among peoples and expanding creative collaboration of all theatrical figures of the world".

      On the occasion theaters of Russia just like those of other countries of the world arrange various festivals, festive stage productions and performances of the best plays.
