Remake of Cult Danish-Swedish Series The Bridge to be Filmed in Russia

As Hollywood Repoter informs, the NTV broadcasting company has acquired the rights for production of 20 film episodes, which will make two seasons.

The action is shifted from Malma and Copenhagen to Ivangorod (a Russian town in the Leningrad Region) and Narva (Estonia), whereas the murder will occur on the Friendship Bridge, which connects the two cities.

The leading roles will be played by Mikhail Porechenkov (the Russian investigator Maxim Kazantsev) and Ingeborga Dapkunaite (a representative of the Estonian police, Inga Savisaar), the Russian Newspaper reports.

The new remake series is planned to be broadcasted in 2017.

The remake filming is a usual practice that is common all over the world, the film critic Sergey Sychev says.

Over the last year Russia has released several remakes of popular western series, in particular, The Homeland (the US) and Klim, a Russian version of Luther (Britain).

The plans to film a Russian analog of The Game of Thrones were announced in February this year. It will be the historical project Blossoming Era about the Romanovs' dynasty. Last week it was declared that a remake of Doctor House would be filmed in Russia. Alexey Serebryakov will play the leading role of the doctor in the Russian version.
