A 500 sq m large portrait of Yury Gagarin has appeared the ice and snow covered Lake Velye in the Pskov Region.
"The portrait of the first astronaut was created by two persons with shovels and modern navigation devices within one day", - Nikolay Dmitriyev, the head of the project "The first ones in the outer space" has noted. According to him, the process of making the image was filmed from air.
The unusual art work displays a smiling face of Yuri Gagaring wearing a helmet with the letters "USSR". It was in such a helmet that he made the first ever space flight on April 12, 1961.
