Monument to Actor Anatoly Kuznetsov Unveiled in Novodevichy Cemetery

The monument unveiling has taken place in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow today.

      The actor Anatoly Kuznetsov became widely popular with his role of the Red Army man Sukhov in feature film The White Sun of the Desert. Despite a set of other remarkable roles, it is this character who became the actor's signature.

      Not incidentally the white marble monument created by the sculptor Andrey Orlov depicts Anatoly Kuznetsov in the image of his immortal hero.

      The unveiling ceremony was carried out by the honoured actor Vasily Lanovoy to the accompaniment of a brass band. The film director Karen Shakhnazarov, actors and representatives of the cultural community as well as the public organization Officers of Russia, and of course, Anatoly Kuznetsov 's family members took part in the ceremony.
