The 6th International Festival "Days of Ethnic Cultures" engaging students from Vietnam, China, Russia, Angola, Egypt, India, Morocco, Namibia, Tunisia and Uzbekistan is taking place in Derzhavin State University, Tomsk.

It kicked off with the competition My Country, in which students told about the national traditions and customs, holidays, traditional dresses, folk songs and dances of their countries.

In the course of the preparation the students could master their Russian, since it is the basic common language during the festival.

The main purpose of the festival, according to the director of the university's international education centre Irina Mizis, is to encourage the freedom of creativity and promote positive values and respect of the rich variety of world cultures.

The festival will last till May 19 and be crowned with a gala concert demonstrating the best performances of the participants again.
