Large-scale project German Videoart in the Russian Museum will kick off in halls of the Marble Palace, St. Petersburg at 4 pm on May 19.
The program has been prepared by the Russian Museum together with Video Forum of New Berlin Art Association will open (n.b.k.) and Goethe Institute in St. Petersburg. The project is dedicated to the history of videoart: from the rich collection of Video Forum the curators have selected eight works by artists, who worked or work in Germany. Each of them is a milestone in development of this art form and gives an idea on how videoart was generated and developed.
The project will be opened with demonstration of Helmut Witz' film about the famous action of Joseph Beuys "I Like America, and America Likes Me".
The exhibition will be accompanied with a series of lectures held once a month in the Marble Palace. The lectures on creativity of the presented artists will be given by famous critics and art historians.
The project will take place in the Marble Palace of the Russian Museum at 5/1, Millionnaya Steet till January 31, 2017.
