Russian GDP Fell By 1.2 Percent In the First Quarter Of 2016

Russian GDP fell by 1.2 percent in the first quarter of 2016 comparing to the same period  in 2015, Rosstat reported on Monday, May 16.

      In the fourth quarter of 2015 the economy contracted by 3.8 percent. "The index of physical volume of gross domestic product in the first quarter of 2016 relative to the corresponding period of 2015, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 98.8 percent," – Rosstat informs.

      Statistical Office data are better than the preliminary estimates of the Economic Development Ministry, according to which the decline in GDP in January-March could have amounted to 1.4 percent.
