A concert timed to the 80th anniversary of the Moscow Metro was held at Kropotkinskaya metro station on Friday night.
It was the first ever opera concert in the history of metro - musicians performed Rural Honor by the Italian composer Pietro Mascagni.
The audience was addressed by soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre, the Royal Danish Opera, the Academic Bolshoy Chorus of the Russian State University for the Humanities and some other famous choral collectives to the accompaniment of the Presidential Orchestra of the Russian Federation.
Moscow Metro celebrated its anniversary on May 15. This day in 1935 saw the openinig of the first metro line section between the stations of Sokolniki and Park of Culture.
