The State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow celebrated its 160th birthday on May 22.

      

      Some special exhibitions, master classes and educational programs were timed to the jubilee. On its birthday the gallery took part in the project Museum Night.

      

      May 21 and 22 saw quests for children and adults in the gallery's main building in Lavrushinsky Lane and Kandinsky Night in the Krymsky Val branch of the Tretyakov Gallery. The exhibition was dedicated to the birthday of the famous artist. Following his ideas, orchestras and theatrical companies performed in exhibition halls.

      

      In the anniversary year the Tretyakov Gallery is also housing the exhibition From Elizabeth to Victoria organized jointly with its British colleagues. It presents 49 portraits of key figures in the British history.
