EU Agrees To Ease Visa Rules

One of the highlights of the EU-Russia summit was visa facilitation. The sides decided to keep the existing fee for issuing a visa at 35 euro and introduce easier rules for one-time visas of up to three months and multiple visas for some groups of citizens.

The proposal cancels invitations needed earlier to confirm the visit. This innovation covers official delegations members, entrepreneurs, journalists, students and schoolchildren, engaged in exchange programmes, athletes competing in international events, and relatives of those legally residing on the host's territory.

Those holding diplomatic passports can travel visa free during a period of three to six months.

The agreement will now be ratified by the EU Parliament.
