Laser Taught to Detect Explosives in Novosibirsk

Experts of the Siberian Geological Systems and Technologies University have invented and patented a laser technology for detecting various explosives.

The chief scientist Alexander Karpik reported about it.

According to experts, the intensity of a laser beam, which is set for intrinsic frequency of a particular substance is enhanced when returning, thus making it possible to draw conclusions about existence of its traces in the surrounding atmoshpere. Thus, it is applicable for search of explosives or drugs, with the laser outreach of 100 meters. In addition to security service the technology can be widely used for qualitative analysis of environmental situation, the scientist emphasized.
