Large-scale concert of the Mariinsky Theater Symphonic Orchestra was held in the Palace Square in St. Petersburg on Friday evening.
The performance took place in the framework of the cinema and music festival St. Petersburg Vacation and was timed to the Year of the Russian Cinema and the 125th anniversary of Sergey Prokofiev.
The concert was started with the cantata Alexander Nevsky to the accompaniment of episodes from Sergey Eisenstein's same-name historical film.
The famous conductor Sergey Stadler is continuing the concert today.
The St. Petersburg Vacation festival will come to an end at 5 am on June 19 with screening of Mikhail Mestetsky's debut film The Rag Union.
