The Crew directed by Nikolay Lebedev will become the first Russian movie released in Japan over the last 10 years.
It is planned that the Russian action movie will be screened in the Japanese movie theaters this autumn.
"The Russian cinema products are getting better", – Robert Jones, the chief executive of the IPA Asia Pacific company distributor, which purchased the distribution rights for The Crew said. Negotiations on selling the distribution rights to Great Britain as well are being carried out. Presently The Crew is the most high grossing Russian film of 2016.
Last time a Russian film was brought to Japan in 2006. It was The Night Watch directed by Timur Bekmambetov and it gained 477 thousand dollars to distributors. As for The Crew, the distribution rights have been purchased in Iran, Lebanon, Kuwait and some other countries of the Middle East.
