La Scala Theater is Coming to Moscow

Legendary La Scala from Milan will perform on the Historical Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre from September 10 to September 16.

Audience will listen to Giuseppe Verdi's works, namely Requiem and the opera Simon Bokkanegra, as well as a concert of Italian music.

Performances are organized in the framework of the Open Festival of Arts "The Cherry Wood" with assistance of the Moscow Main Department Store (GUM).

For the first time Moscow heard concerts of the famous Italian troupe in 1964. Since then La Scala musicians have visited the capital city nine  times more, and the Bolshoi Theatre has paid six reciprocal visits to Milan.

The two theaters are nearly age-mates, with the history of about 250 years.

Moscow dwellers and tourists can buy tickets to La Scala performances in GUM, where the first ticket office of the Bolshoi Theatre has opened from now on.
