The Blockade Diary of 1941-1945 written by Olga Berggolts has become the Prize-winner in the main nomination of the Book of the Year award.
The awarding ceremony was held in the building of the A. I. Solzhenitsyn Russian Abroad Center yesterday.
Altogether awards were handed in ten nominations.
Alexey Ivanov's novel Bad Weather has become Prose of the Year. The book Vestments of Shadows: Poets of Spain translated by Pavel Glushko from Spanish and Catalan has been recognized Poetry of the Year. The Actor's Chest Drawer written by the famous actor Alexey Batalov has been awarded in the nomination Book and Cinema. The Best E-Book is the online project All of Tolstoy in One Click thanks to which 90 volumes of Leo Tolstoy's popular works were posted on the web for open entry.
The annual national contest Book of the Year was founded in 1999. Its main mission is supporting achievements of Russian publishers, encouraging the best works of literature and promoting the role of the book in public awareness.
