Archeologists have found a soldier's helmet, jewelry, ware and bronze mirrors in Sarmatian burials of the Iron Age (3rd century BC - 1st century AD).
The excavations took place in the Ust-Labinsk District of the Krasnodar Territory.
The helmet presumably belonged to a Sarmatian soldier, an ally of Tsar Mitridat VI Eupator, who lived in the 2nd-1st centuries BC. Archeologists assume that the helmet could be among those arms, which Tsar Mitridat VI Eupator supplied Sarmatian allies during his numerous wars.
Scientists also found a massive 80 centimeters long sword at the excavation site. Besides, remains of two men with carriages were unearthed in the most ancient burials of the 3rd millennium B.C.
Most of the finds have been sent to Moscow for restoration. Afterwards they will be returned to Kuban and displayed in the Ust-Labinsk Local History Museum.
