Sheregesh Is Ready For Winter Season

10 of 18 lifts started operating in the Sheregesh resort in the Kemerovo Region in the sector "A" of the Zelenaya Mountain, according to

      Today, the tracks "Dollar" and "Bulochka" (bun) are completely ready for season. In addition, Tashtagol rescue squad has started to be on duty.

      At present, the thickness of the snow cover on the Zelenaya mountain top reaches 140 centimeters, while in the Kurgan and Mustag it is about 2 meters.

      The Kemerovo Region is situated on the South-East of the Western Siberia, occupying the branches of Altai-Sayan uplands. The frontage of the region from north to south is 500 km and about 300 km from west to east. The various level spacing determines the big variety of environmental conditions. The highest point of the region is a bald mountain Verkhniy Zub on the border with Khakassia Republic. Its elevation above sea level is 2178 meters, while the elevation of the lowest one is only 78 meters. It is situated in the valley of the river Tom on the border with the Tomsk Region. The relief of the region includes valleys, piedmonts and mountains and the Kuznetskaya closed depression. The climate of the region is continental. The winter is long and rather cold, the summer is short but warm. The flora of the region varies from tundra to forest-steppe. 

      The region has a dense railway network, including the Trans-Siberian Railway, which passes through the Kemerovo region, and the Kemerovo spur of the West-Siberian Railway. There are two international airports in the region, Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk-Spichenkovo. The preferable mean of transport is plain, from considerations of the time-saving.
