Russia Discussed Agricultural Cooperation With Iran

Julia Shvabauskene, Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, participated in the meeting with Ali Ghanbari, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Jihad —e-Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held within the II World Grain Forum headed by Yevgeny Gromyko, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting the parties noted that the share of agricultural and food products in the total volume of trade turnover between two countries was more than 50%. Thereat, in 2015 90% of Russian exports to Iran were grains and grain legumes and more than 90% of Russian imports from Iran were vegetables and fruit.

The Russian part called the Iranian colleagues to consider lifting of the ban on wheat import to Iran including wheat import from Russia that had been in force since March 2016 and that had a negative impact on mutual trade turnover.

      Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance is the federal organ of executive power, carrying out functions on control and supervision in the field of veterinary science. It establishes and lifts phytosanitary quarantine zones , it controls the use of pesticides and agrochemicals, it maintains soil fertility, it is responsible for selection achievements, protection, reproduction and use of objects of animal world (hunting resources) and aquatic biological resources, and it also carries out the functions on protecting the population from animal infectious deseases. Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance submits to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. The activity of Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance is guided by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal constitutional laws, federal laws, acts of President of the Russian Federation and Government of the Russian Federation, international agreements of the Russian Federation, normative legal acts of Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, and also by the present Act. Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance performs its functions directly and through the regional bodies cooperating with other federal executive authorities, with the executive organs of the Russian Federation subjects, local self-government institutions, public associations and other organizations.
